Immuno-T explains how different strategies of immunotherapy work, to patients and their family and friends. It was developed in co-creation with UZ Gent and UGent, with the support of the Cancer Research Institute Gent (CRIG) and the Immuno-Oncologic Network Gent (ION). Immunotherapy is a recently developed, novel, treatment of cancer. It is an important breakthrough in the treatment of several cancers, and further ongoing developments give clinicians and researchers cause for hope.

Reception by the audience

It’s always difficult to predict the reception of an app. Luckily professor Tessa Kerre and her team were eager to present their app to the audience. And their work payed off. She won the EOS-award for scientific communication. Congratulations!


Zapperdepiet! is an after-hours project made to showcase at Bring Your Own Beamer 2018. We collaborated with 2 nerd-friends, Jelle Vandewiele en Thomas Soreyn, to start the conversation about Black Pete.

The Calendar Clock Face VR

The Calendar Clock Face is an unusual painting from 1500 by an unknown painter in the collection of the M – Museum Leuven. This dial was executed around 1510 to be placed on a clock. The decoration is divided into six concentric circles. The first circle shows the twelve zodiac signs in gold. The second circle shows twelve scenes of various occupations of each of the twelve months; the third circle, hours; and the fourth circle portrays in 24 compartments, the joys and miseries of human life.

We wanted to create a VR-experience that can be visited very quickly (e.g. 2 minutes) but also offers content for a longer play-through (e.g. 30 minutes). Discovering the content at your own pace by browsing, gave the experience an elastic flow.

The project was handled in the same way a website is developed. We started with a flowchart and created branches for the 3 major categories (Zodiac, months and planet children). Each category has its own view. In zodiac mode, you see figures in the sky around you. When browsing the months, a part of the painting comes closer to you in parallax. And the planet children show fragments of the painting while the corresponding planets fly around you in orbit. In the meantime, a narrator gives the user more insights.

This non-linear approach resulted in an experience that is more about exploring instead of building up a story.

Our statistics showed that most visitors spent 3 to 5 minutes inside this VR experience, but around 15% of the visitors spent more than 20 minutes inside it. The maximum play-through was 42 minutes: a visitor who took the time to discover it all.
